Monitise will have a 40% stake in the deal and will create a ‘Mobile Money Network’ for launch in 2011.

The deal will see the launch of products and services which will help customers get the most from ‘Mobile Money on the move’.

It is being designed to be a one stop shop for companies wishing to advertise and sell on a mobile phone.

The venture will make the most of the retail experience of Charles Dunstone together with Monitise’s technology to provide other companies with a platform to launch services aimed at shopping, banking or marketing on mobiles.

Best Buy Europe will become the first retail partner and will make an investment in the venture as part of its belief in the growth of mobile commerce, Monitise said.

For the last six months the Apple iPad has dominated the Tablet computer market. The makers of the iPhone mobile phone have dominated the headlines and projections are that iPad sales will hit over 50 million by the end of 2012!

After much speculation the device that was expected to be called the Blackpad was launched and is going to be called the Blackberry Playbook.

It will have a 7 inch screen, two video cameras but will not use Blackberry’s latest operating system. It will rely on that of QNX, a company RIM recently acquired. It will also have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The Blackberry Playbook at 7 inches is going to be smaller that the iPad but there are rumours that Apple are making a smaller one. The price is still not known but it’s expected to be in the same ball park as the iPad which ranges from £429 to £699 for the top of the range product.

The Playbook will be on sale sometime early in 2011.
